To see if an IP address or domain is available on the IP network, you can use the online Ping IPv4 tool to send ICMP packets to the IP address or domain.
An IP address can be checked with the Ping program to see if it belongs to a device that is responding. To ping it, all you need is an IPv4 address.
A good and acceptable ping time is between 40ms and 60ms. However, if the delay exceeds 100 milliseconds, the games will refuse your connection. At 170 milliseconds, the games will completely reject your connection. Faster and smoother gameplay can be achieved with a lower ping time of 10ms (0.01 seconds) rather than 100ms (0.01 seconds).
It all depends on the game you're playing, of course. Low ping may not be required for some games like Hearthstone. Other games, such as Street Fighter V and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, necessitate more accurate timing and inputs.
